His Daughter’s Faith

Twelve long, torturous years!

Twelve years of isolation from people because the law stipulated she was unclean. Twelve years of spending all her income on physicians who could not cure her.

Matthew and Luke described her as a woman who had an issue of blood. Her illness brought her to a place of great desperation. She needed her miracle NOW!

Are you struggling with an issue that is forever lingering in your life? Are you at a place of desperation forcing you to say: “Enough is enough!”

“Help me!”

But, who can help? Who did the woman with the issue of blood seek for her healing?

Although there was a multitude of people, she was determined to make her way through the pressing crowd to get to Jesus. Scripture says she “came behind him and touched the border of his garment. And immediately her flow of blood stopped.” (Luke 8:44, NKJV)

“Who touched me?” (Luke 8:45)

These were words Jesus spoke after He realized virtue (or power) had gone out of him. Peter and others with him said, “Master, the multitudes throng and press You, and You say, “Who touched Me?” (Luke 8:4)

But Jesus did not give in to what Peter and the others saw with their natural eyes. Something had happened and only He and the woman knew what it was.

Jesus said, “Somebody touched Me, for I perceived power going out of Me.” (Luke 8:46)

The woman couldn’t hide anymore. It was time to approach Jesus in front of the multitude. Scripture tells us this once isolated woman came out trembling, falling down before Him. She declared to Him before all the people why she had touched Him, and how she was healed by doing so (See Luke 9:47).

And notice what Jesus said to her: “Daughter, be of good cheer: your faith has made you well. Go in peace.” (Luke 8:48) Like this woman, Jesus can make you whole.

Through all you are dealing with right now or will deal with in the future, press your way towards Jesus in prayer. You may have to press through criticisms, press through troubling emotions, press through physical pain, and press through heartache, but press on and place your faith in Him.

Jesus may solve your issue(s) immediately. However, remember this unnamed woman had suffered twelve years before Jesus healed her. Oftentimes we may have to wait for our deliverance.

Only God knows what you need and when He will provide for you.

There are times when you will ask God to do something for you and He may not. The question becomes: God, what is it that You want me to understand about You in my situation? Remember, Paul had a thorn in his side and God never removed it. Instead, God told Paul, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” (2 Corinthians 12:9)

God would rather Paul know about His grace and strength than actually heal or deliver him from the thorn in Paul’s flesh.

Also, there are times when Jesus may be waiting on you to take action and then He will bless your efforts. For example, God may work through a doctor to bring healing or He may be waiting for you to implement a healthy lifestyle. Or, God may be waiting on you to remove yourself from an unhealthy or dangerous situation so that he can provide the resources you need to move forward. Remember, the woman literally had to leave a place of isolation to get to Jesus. She went to Jesus, touched His robe and received her healing. She had to do her part first: get to Jesus.

So, what is the message here?

Always press your way to Jesus. Whether He takes care of your situation immediately, whether He takes His time , or whether He does not change your situation at all, know that He loves you.

Like this woman who had the issue of blood for twelve years and was healed, be prepared to tell what God is doing, what He has done for you, and/or what you have learned about Him in your situation.

Glory to God!
